Charity Profile
READ International delivers collaborative, student led initiatives to improve access to education across the world and increase youth participation in the global community. READ International is made up of three flagship projects. The first is the collection of good-quality relevant textbooks from secondary schools from the UK to be distributed across Tanzania. To date we have sent over 550,000 textbooks since 2005.
To improve access to the donations READ International makes, volunteers renovate secondary school libraries into comfortable, attractive spaces that are conducive for both study and reading for leisure. 2009 sees the expansion of Think Global workshops, devised in cooperation with Oxfam, to secondary schools in the UK, delivered by READ volunteers. The workshops are a fun, interactive way to get UK students to think about global citizenship.
Such projects are successful due to the help and support of university students, who make READ International what it is.
