Charity Hitchhikes

Charity hitchhikes are the best option for running low cost, exciting and competitive fundraising events for your favourite cause.

Whilst a number of different concepts exist, the methodology remains the same: having formed teams of two or three, hit the road and get somewhere. The key word here is “blagging”, i.e. getting as much as you can for free. Perfect for impoverished students!

Blagging free transport, accommodation and food is well outside of most people's comfort zones - which is where the fundraising comes in. Get sponsored by the mile or day, or even for performing “tasks” en route (legal and non-obscene please!), you can raise a stack of cash for charity.

Most importantly, you'll come back with a story for the grandkids, with a string of adventures under your belt, which is something pretty hard to come by nowadays. Depending on your event (and luck) you could end up on the other side of the world - literally. You'd be amazed just where you can end up: Tokyo, New York and Egypt have all graced our leader boards!

Types of Hitchhike

We've got charity hitchhike variants coming out of our ears. Here are our most popular variants:

Jailbreak

The original, best-selling hitchhike, in the spirit of Alcatraz's most daring: 36 hours to hitch as far as possible!

Escape

A great Jailbreak follow-up: 24 hours to arrest five convicts across the UK, all without paying a penny.

Lost

Making the proverbial “race to the bar” a little more serious, you start blindfolded in the middle of nowhere!

Runaway

A game of skill and nerve - get as far away as possible - and then back again. An 80 hour epic for the daring.

Hitchhike Events

We provide hitchhike events with a dedicated event registration website, provision of free publicity material and use of our invaluable participant Information Pack.

We're proud to work in association with the Port of Dover Police to support all of our international hitchhikes.

SMS Tracking

Our bespoke SMS Mapping service, built using the Google Maps platform, enables international tracking of hitch teams. Participants can update their online tracker by simply sending us an SMS.

Messages cost standard network rates. Automated replies, reminder messages and message conjoining all available.
