Account Creation

Last updated on 7th December 2010

There are two ways to access Choose a Challenge's services: the first is by creating a standard account using the online registration form and the second is by using your Facebook account and our dedicated Facebook Application.

Standard Account

To create a standard account, head to the online registration form and enter your details. Please ensure you enter valid information, as this forms part of your agreement with us and will be used for any challenge you take part in. Passwords should be longer than six characters. Once you've filled out the form, and agreed to the Registered User Terms & Conditions, your account will be activated for use, although you won't be able to sign up to any challenges until you've confirmed your email address.

A confirmation link will be sent to you via email, to prove that the address provided is valid for you. Click this link to enable all site functionality.

Facebook Account

If you're a Facebook user, and most of us are, then you can click the "Login with Facebook" link available at the top of every page to be redirected to your Facebook account. You'll be asked to approve our "app", and then be logged in and redirected to My Choose a Challenge. You'll only need to approve the app once. We'll then be supplied with your name, date of birth, email address and profile picture. You can revoke access to our application at any time, from your Facebook account.

You will not need a password to access your Choose a Challenge account, just your Facebook account. If you already have a standard Choose a Challenge account, you can merge the two (see here).

Consent

In an effort to keep privacy controls utterly simple, we've given you just the one. You will be asked whether you want your profile to be publicly available or not, and this dictates how you will appear on the site overall. A public profile means that we will display your name, challenges and profile picture on any news feed item relating to your site activity. Hiding your profile will stop usage of your profile picture, and you will appear as Anonymous in all of your site activity. You can change this preference at any time after Account Creation via your Account Settings.

You'll also be able to opt out of the mailing list if you so wish. We send out a quarterly newsletter to keep all of our members informed of the latest challenges and developments, and you can opt in or out at any point.

Facebook Account merge

Last updated on 7th December 2010

Many website users have started to benefit from accessing Choose a Challenge from their Facebook accounts. The only tedious bit is how to access your bookings made on previous "standard" accounts.

First, log in using your Facebook account. Then click the link that should appear in My Choose a Challenge under the Already have a standard account? heading on the right. This will take you to the merge account page.

Simply enter the email and password to your existing (standard) account, and click "Merge my accounts".
