December Newsletter

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to wrap up the month (and the year) - pun intended. December has been a culmination of rounding-up the success we’ve had this year, and evaluating our pitfalls in preparation for the upcoming recruitment season. We’re buzzing to get cracking with recruiting our Three Peaks and Marathon teams!

CELEBRATING YOU

Challenge Leader of the Month

AMELIA IRELAND - UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK (KILIMANJARO)

Amelia has gone above and beyond the call of duty from first signing up to the Kilimanjaro challenge. She has been exceptional in leading her team through numerous street collections, and being one of the first to present the first Trek Training workshop. This, on top of the smashing team she has recruited, really sets an incredible example to challenge leaders across the country.

Honourable Mentions

ELLE MOORE - UNIVERSITY OF NORTHUMBRIA (CHINA)

DYLAN BURKE - UNIVERSITY OF GALWAY (EVEREST)

ILM Challenge Leader Programme

Applications for the Challenge Leader Programme are now closed. Interest was through the roof and we were unfortunate to only be able to select 10 of the best applications. If you’ve not received an email about the next steps, i’m sorry to say that you have not been selected on this occasion. All the more reason to lead again next year when we open up more spaces!

TRAINING

Brand Ambassadors

We held our brand ambassador training early on in December, with our BRAND new brand ambassadors stepping up to the plate to hone in their presentation skills in preparation for recruitment in January. The day was super beneficial for both the brand ambassadors and us as staff to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses of all of our presenting styles. Scott (South), Harri (South-west), Connor (Midlands), and Harry (Midlands and North) are now well versed in the world of information meetings - they’re ready and more than capable of hitting the road in January!

Challenge Leaders

Only a week later, we held a second training day for new challenge leaders ready to smash recruitment on their own campuses. A handful of mixed challenge leaders (some RAG, some independent), travelled down to London to learn all about how to best approach the recruitment season and honing the best practices in getting as many people in information meeting rooms as possible. Later, we spoke through the benefits of challenge leading for employability, and how best leaders can utilize their role when job-hunting later on in life. The day rounded-up with a quiz on what the leaders had learnt, and a well deserved pint at our annual Christmas party.

LOOKING FORWARD…

New Office

Exciting news! The Choose a Challenge team will be emigrating from our office in Vauxhall to a lovely new space in Southwalk, London. A much more central location, the new offices offer a range of activities outside of the usual day-to-day. Find yourself nearby? Pop by and say hello!

January Recruitment

Plans are well underway for January recruitment, with all recruitment plans now created. Rooms and stalls are being booked as we speak as we approach the calm before the storm.

Merry Christmas!

And that’s just about it from the team. Thank you all so much for your hard work and determination this year, you’ve all been absolutely stellar in your efforts. Have an incredible Christmas and a Happy New Year - we’ll see you on the other side!
