No student should be held back by their mental health.

With academic pressure, money worries and loneliness, it's easy to feel overwhelmed at university. Navigating identity, discrimination and global concerns can all make student life even tougher.

An increasing number of the 2.86 million students studying in the UK are experiencing distress and mental illness and accessing support. In fact, around 1 in 4 students report having a diagnosed mental health issue at university. This can impact relationships, reduce academic performance and lead to dropout. Tragically, a number of students die each year by suicide.

But it doesn’t need to be this way.

Student Minds empowers students to build a mental health toolkit to support themselves and their friends through university life and beyond and challenge the higher education sector, health sector, and government to work with students when making decisions that impact them, ensuring they are made accountable for prioritising student mental health.

Our work simply wouldn’t be possible without our incredible fundraisers. By taking on a challenge in support of Student Minds, you’ll be helping to create a future where every student gets the mental health support they need to reach their goals.

“The charity’s mission and vision is so [relevant] to students so it has been brilliant working with them to support the work they do and they have provided us with so much support and encouragement wherever needed.” - Plymouth RAG

“The ethos behind the charity is something I am extremely passionate about and is very close to my heart. Having lost a close friend as a result of suicide, I thought this would be the perfect charity to raise money for. The team were so welcoming and kind–hearted; I got regular emails praising me on my progress, giving me motivation to train harder and raise even more money. I am genuinely so pleased to have raised so much money for such a worthy cause.” - Student Fundraiser
