Why we've changed our Chitwan Safari Itinerary

As a proud member of Tourism Concern's Ethical Tour Operators scheme, we have made the decision to alter the itinerary for our Chitwan Safari extension trip, removing the elephant bathing program element of the trip, effective immediately.

We seek feedback from our participants each year, and we are willing to end partnerships with in-country suppliers if we suspect that they are facilitating or enabling the mistreatment of animals, or are in violation of any of our ethical principles. This is in line with our ethical charter.

In the new trip itinerary we have included new activities, and these include a Jeep Safari, a visit to a local Tharu community, a nature walk and more. For full details of the new itinerary, please visit the main Everest Base Camp landing page.

This itinerary change will be in effect for all participants currently booked on to the Chitwan Safari extension for 2018, and will constitute a Minor Change, per our Terms & Conditions. If you have any questions or concerns about this change to your trip itinerary, please contact us.

We welcome all feedback from our participants on each of our trips, and are grateful to those students who took the time to voice their concerns regarding the treatment of elephants in Chitwan.

We will continue to uphold our values as an ethical tour operator, and we hope that the new Chitwan Safari itinerary will prove to be an enjoyable treat after your Everest Base Camp trek.
