It’s so easy to push your dreams of adventure aside with the words ‘maybe next year’ and ‘not yet’, but those reasons will one day transform into ‘I wish I’d done that’, and we at Choose a Challenge believe there should be no regrets when it comes to seeing the world!

Taking on a challenge can seem like a daunting experience, but with the right training and support from our team and your chosen charity, we believe that anyone can embark on one of our life-changing trips. Here are just a few reasons why you should turn ‘one day’ into today…

1) Seize the moment

If you want to take on an unforgettable charity challenge and have been dreaming of hiking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro or trekking to the fabled ruins of Machu Picchu, what’s stopping you? You don’t want to look back and think of ‘what could have been’ - now is the time to take on the adventure of a lifetime!

We are a nation of a procrastinators, and it’s easy to talk yourself out of something when you are afraid of the uncertainty, but don’t forget - the Choose a Challenge team are always on hand to answer any questions, discuss any reservations, give fundraising advice and training tips and support you as you embark on your challenge. You can even book now for 2021, giving you plenty of time to train and prepare for your trip, once you’ve taken the leap to book, that’s it - you’re actually going off on your adventure, the goal is in sight and we can guarantee it will be one of the best things you will ever do.

2) Make new friends (and find fellow adventurers!)

On our trips you will meet like-minded individuals who all have the same goal - to take on the challenge of a lifetime and raise funds for a cause close to their heart. So, if your friends aren’t big on adventures or aren’t able to join you on one of our events, fear not! You will meet people of all ages and from all walks of life on a Choose a Challenge trek, so you can feel confident signing up alone knowing that you will meet a group of ready-made friends who will support and encourage you throughout your challenge and will be sure to become friends for life after going through the adventure of a lifetime together.

3) Set yourself a goal

People sign up to our challenges for all sorts of different reasons, be it to get fitter, to tick off their bucket list, to do something amazing for a charity they support or to take themselves out of their comfort zone and try something completely new. Whatever your reasons may be, it’s incredibly rewarding to set yourself a goal, work hard and achieve what you set out to do. There is not better feeling than completing your challenge and knowing you have done something amazing for yourself and for your charity.

4) Face your fears

Is one of the reasons you haven’t signed up for your dream trip that you feel worried about stepping out of your comfort zone? Perhaps you’re worried about the training for your trek? Or is it going to an unknown destination? These are thoughts that all of our adventurers would have had at one point or another - you aren’t alone! People of all ages and varying fitness levels make up our trekking groups, as long as you are willing to put some training in, you are perfectly capable of completing a challenge. You will be supported by guides, Choose a Challenge representatives and your fellow fundraisers throughout your trip and we’ll be on hand to offer advice and training tips before your challenge so you feel prepared for the adventure ahead. Our favourite quote is ‘life begins at the end of your comfort zone’, and we truly believe this - don’t let the fear hold you back from doing something extraordinary.

5) With Choose a Challenge, you will be travelling responsibly

One of the reasons you may be reluctant to book on to your adventure could be that you’re worried about the impact your travel will have on the environment. We know that our fundraisers like to travel ethically, sustainably and responsibly, and this is something we are committed to in all areas of our work.

We’re proud to be members of multiple accreditation agencies, and are always working towards new schemes to help us be the most informed, transparent, sustainable, safe and inspiring travel company around. We are also an active member of ABTA’s Animal Welfare Working Group and in 2018, we took the Travellers Against Plastic (TAP) pledge to help fight the harmful consumption of single-use plastics through our operations.

For the first time, in 2020, we are offering all of our participants the opportunity to offset the vast majority of their trip’s carbon emissions. And by 2021, our entire company will be carbon neutral, one of the first operators in the UK to do so.

When you book on with us you can rest assured that your trip is being carried out in a sustainable, ethical and transparent operational manner. Read more here.
