Six Challenges You Can Complete in Seven Days or Less

The idea of taking on a physical challenge can be really appealing. Whether it’s hiking, climbing, or cycling. But the problem for many people is time. When booking more than a fortnight’s holiday involves multiple chats with management and HR, the logistics of a 23 day hike to the K2 Base Camp can be a challenge in an of itself. More so, if you want to factor in a few days rest at the end of it.

But what many people don’t realise is that you can find a whole range of challenges that it’s possible to complete in less than a week. And you don’t have to stay in the UK for all of them. These are six of our favourites.

Six Challenges That Take Six Days or Less

Colombia’s Lost City

A week is nothing. You can’t do anything truly exciting in less than a week! Well, not unless you fancy hiking through the South American jungle to discover Colombia’s Lost City. Taking just five days, this challenge is a genuine adventure. You have heat, humidity, rivers to forge, and more flora and fauna than you could shake a hiking pole at. Not to mention one of the most significant historic finds of the last century. This challenge is physically demanding primarily because of the climatic conditions. But it is also simply breath-taking.

Hadrian’s Wall

Looking for a challenge that’s a little closer to home and considerably less humid? Hadrian’s Wall is a great place to start. Popular with universities and businesses looking for enjoyable team building experiences, Hadrian’s Wall is one of our more cost-effective challenges. But that makes it no less worthwhile. Covering a distance of 84 miles, from Solway Firth to the banks of the River Tyne, this trek is something of a walk through British history. And with a range of accommodation types available, it’s a good choice for those who like a challenge, but are less keen on roughing it!

The Budapest Marathon

If running is your thing, then the Budapest Marathon could be the perfect challenge for you. Covering a course of 26 miles along the River Danube, this marathon is largely flat and extremely scenic. With time for both training and sight-seeing factored in, this challenge demands no more than four days – although you can delay your return flight if you wish to extend your trip and take in a bit of culture. Short, sweet, but physically demanding, this is a great adventure for anyone who has limited time.

2023 registration is now closed, but that gives you plenty of time to prepare for 2024.

London to Paris Cycle

Among the most iconic cycling routes, the London to Paris Cycle Challenge takes you from Greenwich Park to the Eiffel Tower. Covering 174 miles, it takes just three days to complete, and leaves you with a little time for tourism before you head by home on day four. It might not be the longest or most extreme challenge, but we can guarantee that you’ll feel epic at the end of it… And buns of steel are almost a given!

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu has to be among the world’s most popular bucket list destinations. It has become almost legendary in stature. And the trek has so much to offer. From breath-taking scenery, flora, and fauna, to the incredible historic sights of the citadel. And you can see it all, do it all, and be home looking at your photos within the space of a week.

Morocco High Atlas Mountains

If you’re someone who’s more interested in the journey than the destination, then the High Atlas Mountains challenge could be a better option for you. Taking six days, it will see you travel through some of the most diverse and beautiful landscapes you have ever encountered. From the Marrakech plains to the snowy peaks of the mountains. Taking in gorges, rivers, and waterfalls en route. With chance to visit traditional villages and bazars, this challenge has a wonderful cultural element, while still enabling you to truly stretch those hiking muscles, with an ascent that will take you 4,167m above sea level, to the summit of Mount Toubkal – the highest peak in North Africa.

If you’re looking for a holiday with a difference, and a chance to challenge yourself, you don’t need to use up all of your annual leave to do so. Whether you wish to travel overseas or stay closer to home, there are so many challenge options for you to enjoy. You just need to find the right the one for you.
