The Challenge Leader Programme

We are very excited to announce that the Challenge Leader Programme is now Approved by the Institute of Leadership (IoL)! Leaders who wish to enrol on the Programme will receive an exclusive certificate recognising their achievements as a Challenge Leader, access to the bespoke IoL learning portal, as well as discounted membership to the Institute of Leadership and more!

WHAT IS IT?

The Programme

The Challenge Leader Programme is a qualification endorsed and ‘Institute Approved’ by the Institute of Leadership (IoL). It closely resembles the responsibilities you fulfil as a Challenge Leader, except with a few online learning components provided by IoL. Once you’ve completed the extra components and returned from your challenge, you will receive a certificate from IoL. This is a massive opportunity to set yourself apart when job-hunting in the future.

IoL Components

The IoL components to be completed are split into five ‘Dimensions of Leadership’, and consist of the following:

  • Collaboration: Empowering your team and Effective communication for new leaders

  • Ownership: Mastering Your Time and Problem Solving

  • Authenticity: The importance of leadership styles & Psychological safety and inclusivity

  • Achievement: Improving performance with reflection and growth mindset & Values, culture and performance

  • Vision: Leading with vision, inspiration and purpose

WHY AND HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

Why?

The Challenge Leader Programme is an awesome opportunity for you to formally quantify your achievements as a challenge leader throughout your year - a real asset to your CV. You will be recognised by an established leadership institution, who approve leadership initiatives by a number of national training schemes and accredited universities, through your efforts. By taking part in the programme, you will receive a e-badge for each online IoL component completed, a discounted Associate membership to the Institute of Leadership, a certificate upon completion, and much more…

Getting Started

First, you’ll have to get acquainted with IoL. You’ll need to read this blog, and read through the Challenge Leader Programme overview, which you can find here. Once you have done the above, you can apply for your position on the IoL Programme by filling out this form. After filling out the form, we’ll assess whether you have fulfilled enough of your challenge leader responsibilities to be admitted to the programme. Subsequently, we’ll be in touch about the next steps. A WhatsApp group will likely be created as a forum for discussions and questions.

Please note: It’s desirable to have attended a Challenge Leader Training Day to take part in the Programme.
